Latest Techniques to Get Ranked High on Yahoo!

To get high rank on Yahoo is essential for you business, otherwise you will miss a lot of potential customers. According to Nielsen/NetRatings , one of the leading Internet and digital media audience information and analysis services, Yahoo is the search engine with the second greatest audience reach at 31.5%. In this article, I will try to focus on the latest insights and techniques for ranking well in Yahoo.

It is widely known and believed that Yahoo weighs on-page optimization much more heavily than Google. However, latest findings and research have shown that Yahoo seem to be weighing off-page factors more than they had been previously. They are trying to factor in more off-page elements into their ranking algorithm.

Also, lately, it seems that meta tag optimization is important for high Yahoo rankings. While there is no definite answer for an optimum keyword density, in my opinion anything over 5% is not a good idea if you want to rank high in Yahoo. Another difficulty with yahoo is to get your site indexed. Once you are indexed by Yahoo, the rest is pretty much based on keywords, rich content, and some good backlinks. But to create good accessible content, you must take the following into consideration:

•  Do not use frames because Yahoo spiders can not crawl a framed webpage.

•  Keep it simple - 99% of all web designers use too many graphic images and too much Java scripting, Flash, etc. which results in lower rankings and less traffic.

•  Do not include re-directs (a page that automatically sends you to another page) to other pages.

•  Make sure that all pages of your website are globally inter-linked.

Search Engine optimization requires common sense, and it's an ongoing discovery and testing process. So, you always have to keep yourself updated about any changes. But don't panic and rush to change anything on your website if Yahoo or any other Search Engine changes its ranking algorithm, unless you are sure what has been changed.
